Albums
The discography of the American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and numerous compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band played sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to the formation of Toto in 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics due to not having hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group The group held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old demos and tapes to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well received by fans and the band embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

Drummer David Hungate also left the band after the tour. Leland Sklar was his replacement.

The most popular video for the group is "Africa", which has more than one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library, and shows the band performing in front of a book about Africa.
The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. It was written by the band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe as well as other countries. The success of the single helped Toto gain popularity after their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.

Toto was formed after Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and Boz Scaggs recorded Silk Degrees. Keyboardist Paich was a regular on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto began working on a project titled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks and several completed recordings of older songs. The album was a huge success worldwide and the band went on a worldwide tour to promote the album.
